Light Pruning of Red Grapes:
second two weeks of February
Conduction System:
High espalier vineyard
Water System:
100% computerized dripping watering system
Plant Density:
2.5
The Climate:
A unique characteristic of the Valley is its continental climate. Different to other wine producing regions of the world, it has no maritime influence.
The Valley has a temperate - template climate with significant temperature variation throughout the year also the difference between diurnal and nocturnal temperatures is significant.
Rainfall is scarce (90 mm per annum), and the summers are dry. Under these conditions, the health of the plants and grapes is excellent but irrigation is necessary. The water is brought from the Andes across a complex system of canals.
The wind is gentle, and the night breezes provide excellent ventilation and keep the grapes healthy. Different to other regions of the world, no special treatments are necessary.
The vineyards take full advantage of these characteristics, the altitude, the dry climate, and the temperature differences, and produce mature wines with an intense fruity flavor
The Soil:
The alluvial soil is deep, rocky, covered with clay and sand in some areas. The land is virgin, little cultivated, and its health and mineral contents make it ideal for grape growing
The Water:
Irrigation water is pure, runoff water from the high Andean peaks that is carried mainly by the Tunuyan River and, to a lesser extent, by the ground water table.
